We’re back in full swing in the Music Department with no sign of slowing down!

Year 7 Information Night and Instrument Trials

The Year 7s of 2026 who attended the information night on October 14, were treated to the sounds of Wind Symphony and String Orchestra. The audience was very receptive and were obviously very impressed and excited to learn an instrument, as they attended the instrument trials afterwards in large numbers. P Block was a buzz with excitement with the students trying multiple instruments. Over 70 have already expressed interest in learning a wide range of instruments so Soundworks and Stringworks of 2026 promise to be amazing!

Music Week a Huge Success

During Week 3 the Music Department held Music week with the Concert Band Soiree, String Soiree and Rock Showcase over three consecutive nights. They were all fantastic evenings showcasing our students talents in small groups and solos. Thank you to Belinda McGee, Elisha Sadikay and Wes Pfitzner for all your support that week with not only locking up after hours but negotiating power outages and student safety. All three nights were a huge success, with all students performing to enthusiastic audiences of families and friends.

Next week we have Soundworks performing at Hawthorn Arts Centre as part of the VSMF. They will be on stage sometime between 5:30 and 7:45pm and can be live streamed through www.vsmf.com.au

Wind Symphony will be performing at the Doncaster RSL on Remembrance Day between 10:30 and 11:30am. All guests are welcome.

Doncaster are very proud of the Musical contributions to our presentation days and evenings. There will be a wide range of music at each of the events and we hope all those who attend enjoy them.
