Checkmate! Our Students Shine at the Inter-School Chess Tournament
On Thursday 6 October, Doncaster Secondary College students represented our school at an inter-school chess tournament hosted by Box Hill High School. Teams from Box Hill High School, Ashwood High School and East Doncaster Secondary College also took part.
Fourteen of our students — Jayden Balaji, Shin Chan, Owen Chen, Taim Daher, Shanay Guha, Leo Han, Tony Hu, John Lee, Kaisen Lin, Pheonix Markulija, Kai Paul, James Theoharakos, Jarrell Wong and William Yan — competed in a series of challenging matches across the day.
Doncaster Secondary College achieved an excellent overall result, with Tony Hu being the overall winner and Shin, Kaisen, William and Shanay also performing strongly.
Congratulations to all participating students for their effort and sportsmanship and thank you to Ms Yang for her valuable support on the day. The Chess Club now looks forward to further success at the 2026 inter-school tournament.

VCES Maths Games Day Success!
On Wednesday, 11th September, Mr Rule and Ms Yang accompanied a team of 16 students to Box Hill High School to take part in the VCES Maths Games Day, organised by the Mathematical Association of Victoria.
The program is designed to extend and challenge high-ability students through a series of fun, collaborative, and competitive mathematics-based activities. Our students spent the day tackling a wide range of puzzles and games that tested their problem-solving skills and teamwork. It was certainly a brain workout, but also a very rewarding experience!
Participating schools included Box Hill High, Balwyn High, Glen Waverley Secondary, Officer College, and Mullauna College. We are very proud to share that two of our teams achieved third place overall, earning the special “COOL/DOOK” reward keyring tokens.
