Celebrating Our Sporting Achievements

Thanks to Tim Jones and Sam Trevethan, all of our sporting pennants have now been hung in the Activity Centre, showcasing the achievements of our teams since 2018. This new display adds a dynamic touch to the space, highlighting the strength and spirit of our sporting community.

Year 8 Sport Gala Day

On Friday 15 November, it was Year 8’s turn to take the field at the Kingston Division Gala Day! The Year 8s came ready to play, showing impressive skill, teamwork, and enthusiasm across Cricket, European Handball, and Lacrosse. A special shout-out to our three Handball teams, who went undefeated, the Lacrosse Boys and Girls teams, who both took home wins, and the Boys Cricket team for placing 3rd overall! The students demonstrated true Beauy spirit by cheering on their peers between games. We are so proud!

Year 8 State Hockey Final

On Wednesday 20 November, the Year 8 Hockey team headed out to Footscray for the state Hockey finals, marking their second year in a row reaching this stage of the competition.

The team battled well all day and represented the college in tremendous fashion. The day's highlights included a nil-all draw in our second game against Warrnambool (who made our early start of 7:30am seem easy—they were on the bus at 5:00am!), coming desperately close to scoring against Hume Anglican in our last game, and the feedback I received from one of our referees about the extremely positive language and support used on the pitch by Oskar E.

Some standout performers included Ashleigh B, who was representing the school for the first time, Finn H, who was brilliant all day in defence, and further up the pitch, Ajay S and Freya L, who worked relentlessly in the midfield.

AFL 9's Gala Day

On Friday 29 November, our Year 8 students took part in an action-packed AFL 9’s Tournament, competing against schools from across the region in a fast-paced, non-contact version of Australian Rules Football.

AFL 9’s is all about inclusivity and enjoyment, and our students showcased their speed, strategy, and sportsmanship in a safe and supportive environment. It was a fantastic day filled with teamwork and skill development.

Australian Open Golf 2024

On Friday 29 November, 20 students from Beaumaris Secondary College ventured out to attend the Australian Open at Victoria Golf Club. The weather was brilliant, and the players, both men and women, put on a great show for our students. As always, our students represented the school in an exceptional manner. Fingers crossed the event will remain at Victoria in 2025.
