PBL Mascot Competition
Thank you to everyone who entered our PBL Mascot Competition last term. We had over 80 entries, with the creativeness of the St Margaret’s community shining through! We were very impressed by all the artworks produced.
The PBL team met late last term to narrow down the entries to our finalists. We congratulate the following students on being chosen as the PBL Mascot Finalists; Harper (1A), Santiago (1B), Amelia (2C), Ryan (3A), Terence (3A), Alessia (6B), Adam (6C), and Kayla (4C) and Maya (6C).
After all the classes voted, we had a winner! Congratulations to Maya and Kayla on their possum artwork. The word Maribyrnong translates to ‘I can hear the sound of a ringtail possum’, so this is a fitting winner to represent our school and our community.
We are working with our winners to slightly adapt their artwork, with the final mascot making their debut later in the term!

Social Intervention - Term 2
Beginning this term, students will have the chance to take part in social intervention groups. These groups will be run to explicitly teach and reinforce social skills. These can include (but are not limited to) communication, cooperation, making friends, impulse control, and PBL expectation practice.
Groups will run for 15-20 min weekly and will be hands on. Students will play games, do role plays, etc. to explicitly practice skills. Small groups will be multi-age and will take place over Thursdays and Fridays during class time.
Teachers have been asked to put forward students who they feel may benefit from the explicit teaching of social skills. If your child has their name put forward for this program, you will receive communication via email.
