What we are doing in class
In Inquiry, we had a blast exploring world maps and globes. We then refined our focus to exploring our country, Australia, and now we are learning about a different state or territory each week. Research skills have been developed using Atlases, and it’s been such a joy seeing the curiosity this topic has brought out.
In Mathematics, we have been exploring Addition and Subtraction. This is such a rich topic, as we cover both units together. This allows for the opportunity to play around with and develop our understanding of the relationship between the two. We are building upon multiple strategies which can be utilised to help solve both addition and subtraction questions.
In Literacy, we are continuing with the Little Learners Review to consolidate phonics knowledge and support reading and spelling development. Our grammar focus will include compound sentences, boundary punctuation, nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. In Writing, we have started our unit on narratives by exploring the text ‘Rose Meets Mr Wintergarten’. As we get further into the term, we will be creating our very own stories with interesting characters and exciting settings.
Platoons will run every Wednesday this term.
