Our Foundation students have settled nicely into school life, especially when it comes to our specialist classes. They have particularly enjoyed using the Bee-Bots in Digitech.

PMP and Brain Gym

It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Foundation students as we have just launched two exciting new programs in PMP and Brain gym.

These education based programs are designed to engage and strengthen students’ physical motor skills. The students have loved  joining in structured, station-based activities like balancing, jumping, and throwing to improve coordination, spatial awareness, and memory, preparing the children for academic tasks such as reading and writing.

A special thanks to all our parents and grandparents who have volunteered their time to help out and make these opportunities possible for our students!!

Level 1 has been buzzing with activity lately, and our classrooms have been full of curiosity, creativity and a few sticky fingers thanks to paint and ice cream.

In Maths, students have been exploring doubles in the most colourful way possible.

They painted dots on one side of a page, folded it over, and watched the number instantly double.

We also kicked off our first week of Improvement Groups.

Students worked with different teachers and classmates as they explored place value through hands‑on tasks and games. It was wonderful to see them confidently learning in new groups and enjoying the change of pace.

In Writing, students have been diving into poetry.

They’ve experimented with descriptive language and created some wonderful poems of their own. To help us focus on adjectives, we held a very serious tasting session involving chocolate ice cream. Students described how it looked, felt, smelt and tasted—once they finished enjoying it, of course.

Our Inquiry unit exploring materials led us to the 3 Little Pigs. Students explored materials such as rocks, sticks, leaves and other building materials, talking about which materials were strong, durable, best for building a house and what made them good or ba for the pigs to have chosen!

Level 2

Over the past few weeks, Level 2 students have poured their creativity and hard work into designing and completing their amazing parks in Art class!

They practiced and refined their cutting and pasting skills, carefully shaping nature and pathways to bring their imaginative park designs to life. They explored textures, colours, and patterns, adding details like playground equipment and even tiny picnic tables to make their parks feel real and inviting.

Each park reflected their unique ideas, teamwork, and pride.

Level 3

This week in Maths, the Level 3 students expanded their understanding of fractions by creating unifix fruit kebabs.

They did a fantastic job creating their kebabs and then identifying the fraction of each fruit represented. They also explored different ways to represent their fraction using a fraction gallery. It was great fun to get creative and see all the objects that we can make fractions with.

In Literacy, students showcased their understanding of procedural writing by creating a procedure on “How to Make a Pizza.” The Level 3 students focused on including all the important elements of a procedural text, such as a title, ingredients, steps, and clear instructions, to ensure that anyone could successfully make their delicious pizza.

Level 4

Over the past two weeks, Level 4 students have been engaged in rich learning across all areas of the curriculum.

In Literacy, students explored cause and effect in both real-life situations and texts, building their understanding by creating a list of signal words to support comprehension. They also developed explanation texts on topics of their choice, focusing on using technical language, engaging sentence openers, and cause-and-effect connectives to explain how and why things happen.

In Numeracy, students worked in Fraction Improvement Groups, each with specific learning goals. Through a variety of hands-on and problem-solving activities, students were challenged to deepen their understanding of fractions in different ways.

In Inquiry, students investigated different vegetation regions around the world and their characteristics. They then applied their knowledge creatively by designing their own ideal environment, selecting appropriate plants, animals, and climate conditions.

It has been a productive fortnight, and we are proud of the students’ effort and creativity.

Over the past few weeks, Level 5 students have been immersed in a fun-filled and inspiring learning journey—both under the stars and in the classroom!

On the 6th of May, they returned to school at 5:30pm to participate in our Star Gazing Night! The evening began with a lively Solar System quiz to consolidate some of their learning, followed by pizza for dinner.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t very kind for us but we managed to get a break from the rain and head outside to view the night sky in hope to find some constellations with the help from the Night Sky app on the ipads.

Afterwards, we watched a short video about the myth behind how a constellation was formed as inspiration for the students to create their own using their bodies to act them out. We wrapped up the night by creating glow stick constellations in the dark.

It was a magical and memorable experience!

On Monday 11th May, the Level 6 students welcomed their mums and special friends to school for a relaxed and wonderful morning together.

We enjoyed outdoor activities, board games, and lots of chatting and laughter. There were also pamper stations for some downtime, along with a delicious breakfast of bacon and egg sandwiches, biscuits, and tea and coffee.

It was a fantastic celebration focused on kindness, connection, and appreciating the important people in our lives.

Thank you to all the mums and special friends who joined us and made the morning so memorable!
