Homework

Homework

This term, our homework routines and expectations will be very similar to Term 1 and will commence starting Week 3. Students will be expected to consolidate their learning at home through some short weekly tasks. These tasks will be aligned with current curriculum areas that we will be focusing on in class.  These tasks will be outlined in our homework overview which will be going home with students at the end of Week 2.

Students consolidate their learning at school by reading independently at home for at least 10 minutes each day. This will allow them to develop their reading fluency and the various comprehension skills and strategies they have been exposed to at school.

  • Students can continue to access daily take-home readers and library books to support reading at home.
  • Please refer to your reading guide for parents for prompting questions to support your child’s reading at home. If you require another copy please get in touch with your child’s classroom teacher.
  • A variety of resources aimed at assisting you in supporting your child’s learning at home are available via Compass. To access these resources, click School Resources > Parent Documents > Supporting Your Child at Home.

Students can also access the following digital platforms using their home password sheet. The tasks on these platforms will be adjusted and set periodically to reflect current curriculum areas in class.

  • Nessy which is a digital learning tool. It encompasses a series of reading and spelling game based interactive tasks to challenge and extend students with a focus of reading.
  • Matific which is a digital learning tool. It provides further opportunities for students to build a deeper conceptual understanding of various mathematics skills.
  •  Essential Assessment has My Numeracy Goals, which are formulated to each student’s specific point of need.

Please keep homework books in students' schoolbags during the week.
