While ADHD diagnoses continue to increase, other factors may also contribute to poor sleep, reduced concentration, and decreased social interaction.
Devices such as iPads are becoming a major source of entertainment for many children. Reducing screen time may help improve some behaviours and symptoms commonly associated with ADHD.
Cultural Committee
The Cultural Committee had their first meeting for Term 2 on Tuesday 12th May 2026 to begin preparations for our NAIDOC Day Celebrations at Gundy State.
We were thrilled to welcome community to our meeting including Aunty Cheryl, Aunty Regina, Tanya Kirkegaard and Tracker. Their input was invaluable to our planning.
Our Cultural Committee members Adam Pateman, Emily Scott and Bec Sutton were also invited to visit the BNTAC office in Marshall St. They attended the BNTAC office on Wednesday 13th May 2026 and were so excited to yarn with Justin Saunders, Tanya Kirkegaard and Aunty Regina. These opportunities are imperative to building relationships with community and help our committee to continue their learning journey to understand Bigambul knowledge, histories and culture more. There were also some traditional artefacts, which were so interesting to view and learn about. If you haven't visited their office, it is well worth popping in to learn more about our local histories.
The committee is looking forward to continuing to work with community and the BNTAC office throughout 2026 and into the future to build staff cultural capabilities and competence around First Nation peoples, and the possibility of providing more opportunities, experiences and learning to GSPS students too.
Our next meeting is Tuesday 26th May 2026 at 3:15pm in the GSPS Library. All welcome to attend. Meeting focus: NAIDOC Day planning.
