Sports Update

Cross Country
Our annual Cross Country Carnival was held on Thursday 7 May, with students embracing the challenge despite the icy conditions and making the most of a fantastic day of competition. Congratulations to Farrer House, who narrowly edged out Cowell House by just eight points to claim the Tony Cullen Memorial Shield. It was an outstanding achievement for Farrer, who also took out the Swimming Carnival earlier this year.
A huge congratulations to all students for the enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship they displayed throughout the event. It was wonderful to see students encouraging one another and giving their best effort across all age groups and events.
Thank you to our staff for stepping into a variety of roles to ensure the day ran smoothly, from course marshalling and timekeeping through to event coordination and student support. We also extend our appreciation to our wonderful Parents & Friends group for kindly donating Zooper Doopers for students to enjoy at the conclusion of their races.
Finally, thank you to the many families and supporters who braved the chilly weather to cheer on our students from the sidelines. Your support helped create a terrific atmosphere for the day.
A full list of Age Champions and place getters will be published on Facebook in the next day or two so stay tuned.
Adam Gatcum Joins Sports Academy
We are thrilled to announce that Adam Gatcum will become our Sport's Academy FIRST EVER specialist coach! Adam will work closely with our soccer students across 2–3 specialist training sessions each term, helping build their technical skills, game understanding and overall development as players.
Adam brings with him an outstanding football background, including time in the Southampton FC Academy system in England, a full-time football scholarship with Woking FC, and many years competing in the National Premier League with Goulburn Valley Suns FC, where he was part of the club’s leadership group.
Adam shared:
“Throughout my career, I’ve worked under some outstanding coaches and continue to be a student of the game, always evolving and refining my approach. I’m looking forward to bringing an enthusiastic coaching style and helping install the habits, mindset, and standards required to perform at a high level. I'm really looking forward to getting started.”
We can’t wait to see the impact Adam will have on our Sports Academy students and soccer program in particular. Welcome Adam!
Year 9/10 Winter Sports Day
Our Year 9 and 10 students enjoyed an excellent day of competition at the Winter Sports Day held in Shepparton.
Students proudly represented the school across a range of sports and activities including soccer, basketball, netball and clay target shooting, demonstrating teamwork, sportsmanship and enthusiasm throughout the day.
A standout performance came in the clay target competition, where Adrian Jonker achieved an outstanding second place in the Junior Boys division after a shoot-off, including an impressive perfect round of 15.
Our students also achieved remarkable success in the Junior Girls competition, securing a clean sweep of the podium:
• 1st – Evie Aldridge
• 2nd – Hameesha Fernando
• 3rd – Hayley Lebner
Congratulations to all students involved on the positive way they represented the school and competed throughout the day. We also extend our sincere thanks to the staff who attended to supervise teams and assist with umpiring duties.
