Book Week
The 'crescendo' of Book Week is fast approaching and the excitement gathering 'tempo'!
We would love to see students, staff and parents dressed up as their favourite book character, author or book on Tuesday 25th August.
Please note that when choosing a costume with your child/ren it does not need to be elaborate. We would encourage you to use clothes from home for the event. We do ask that the costume including footwear is appropriate for the weather, play and learning activities.
Our Book Week celebration morning will be 'andante' (walking pace) and 'allegro' (fast and lively) with many 'staccato' (short, detached, spiky notes) moments.
The morning 'symphony' includes:
- Community Breakfast, 8.00am
- Students to classrooms for roll call/morning routines 8.40am
- Book Week parade in Worship Centre 9.10am approx.
- Brain break 10 – 10.10 approx.
- Read-a-round activity 10.15am approx.
- Recess 10.45
We are encouraging you all to attend and celebrate reading in all genres!
Great Book Swap - Help Us Open Doors Through Reading
Did you know that many children in remote Australian communities have limited access to books?
This year, our school is proud to join a national movement to change that. By participating in our Great Book Swap on Monday 31st August – Thursday 4th September (Term 3 Week 7), your child isn't just getting a new book—they are helping the ILF publish stories in First Languages so more children can see themselves reflected in what they read.
Please support us by sending in a gold coin and a quality pre-loved book. Together, we can help ensure that every child, regardless of where they live, has the opportunity to fall in love with reading.
🏓 Ping Pong-A-Thon is this week! 🏓
Friday is casual clothes day with Gold Coin donation - students may dress in the theme of sport.
As an extra incentive this year for creating a fundraising page, all students who have one will receive a free drink from the cafe.
We have received an exclusive encouragement video from the Pong!
