From the School Leadership Team

Netball
It's a big week for netball! Our Foundation to Year 2 team enjoyed their second game on Monday evening, while our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 teams have been representing the school at the SACSA Gala Days this Thursday and Friday. A huge thank you to our parent volunteers and staff who have supported these teams throughout the week.
Pong-a-thon – This Friday and Saturday
We have our Pong-a-thon coming up this Friday 14 August and Saturday 15 August, raising funds to help combat slavery around the world. This is a wonderful way for our students to live out their Christian values by assisting others who are less fortunate, while also developing their international mindedness, intercultural understanding, and sense of social justice and compassion.
Our school is excited to partner with Golden Grove Lutheran Church for an incredible weekend event that combines fun, fitness, and fighting for freedom! Join us for our Ping Pong-a-Thon — a unique fundraising tournament dedicated to combating modern slavery around the world.
- When: Friday 14th and Saturday 15th August
- Where: Worship Centre
- Who: Open to all students, families, and community members
- What: Ping pong games and fundraising activities
Every serve, every point, and every game will help raise funds and awareness for organisations working tirelessly to end human trafficking and modern slavery. This partnership with Golden Grove Lutheran Church reflects our shared commitment to social justice and protecting vulnerable people worldwide.
You can get involved by registering to play, sponsoring a player, making a donation, volunteering to help out, or simply coming along to cheer us on.
Details are available from the church or school office. Donations can also be made at: https://pingpongathon.com/e/goldengrovepong
Casual Clothes Day & Pong-a-Thon – Friday 14 August
Friday 14th August will be a Casual Clothes Day for all students, in support of our Serve Up Hope Pong-a-Thon — a fundraising event run in partnership with Golden Grove Lutheran Church to help combat modern slavery around the world.
On the day, students are welcome to dress as their favourite sporting person or simply wear casual clothes. We ask that students bring a gold coin donation to support the Pong-a-Thon if possible, please.
Casual Clothes Day Guidelines:
- Shirts must have sleeves for sun protection (singlets are not appropriate)
- Enclosed footwear must be worn at all times
- A hat is required for sun safety
- Clothing should not display inappropriate text, images, or references to social or political themes
Thank you for your continued support as our students live out their values by helping others less fortunate around the world.
P&F Trivia Night – Saturday 22 August
We are looking forward to our upcoming P&F Trivia Night next Saturday, 22 August. Please feel free to book a ticket and join in the fun — it's always a great community evening, and our P&F have been working hard to put together a fantastic night with lots of prizes on offer.
Book Week 2026 – Tuesday 25 August
Exciting times ahead in our library! Book Week 2026 is fast approaching, with this year's theme, "Symphony of Stories," celebrating the wonderful orchestra of books we all get to read and share.
Students, staff and parents are invited to dress up on Tuesday 25 August to enjoy our Community Breakfast at 8.00am, courtesy of our P&F Committee, followed by our Book Week Character Parade in the Worship Centre. Costumes don't need to be elaborate — clothes from home are most welcome (please keep footwear practical for play and learning).
The Great Book Swap – Week 7 (Monday 31 August – Thursday 4 September)
Hot on its heels, The Great Book Swap runs in Week 7 (Monday 31 August – Thursday 4 September). For a gold coin donation, students can swap a book they've finished for a new one to enjoy, with proceeds supporting the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Book donations can be dropped at the Front Office or Sunnybrook Library by 26 August.
LLL - Charitable Donations Program
We're thrilled to partner with LLL Australia to bring you a meaningful way to support our school through their Charitable Donation Program.
Your generosity in making a deposit with the LLL through a Charitable Facility Account which will assist us in upgrading our Foundation playground.
The funds you hold in your Facility will generate notional amounts of interest that is retained by LLL who will make a regular allocation to us to further our project, while your original investment remains completely untouched.
Our partnership with LLL Australia makes it simple and secure by:
- Opening a new LLL Charitable Facility.
- Nominating Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School as the preferred beneficiary of the interest your facility will forgo.
That's it! You can rest easy knowing your money is making a meaningful difference in our community—all with zero fees or charges to you.
If you would like to know more, please contact Tanya Rowland, our Business Manager.
