Senior School

As we move through another busy and productive term, I would like to acknowledge and celebrate the many achievements and contributions of our Senior School students.

Firstly, congratulations to our Year 12 students on completing their Trial HSC Examinations. This is a significant milestone and reflects many months of commitment and hard work. As they enter their final weeks of school, I encourage them to stay focused, maintain healthy routines and continue to apply themselves to their learning. Every effort from this point forward will make a difference as they prepare for their final examinations.

Best wishes also to those students completing major works and performances across a range of subjects. Whether presenting a performance, exhibition or project, these works represent months of planning, creativity and perseverance. I hope the consistent effort invested over the past nine months is rewarded and that students take pride in what they have accomplished.

Congratulations to our Year 11 students who organised and participated in the Winter Sleep Out in support of Yes Unlimited. This important initiative raised awareness and support for young people experiencing homelessness and hardship. Thank you also to everyone who contributed to Flanny Day and donated to this worthwhile cause. Further details can be found in the report included later in this newsletter.

Our students have also enjoyed remarkable success at the Albury Eisteddfod. Congratulations to all students who participated, with outstanding results achieved in debating as well as individual and group performances. These achievements showcase the depth of talent, dedication and courage that exists within our student community. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and achievements.

Finally, thank you to all students who embraced today's Book Week celebrations. It was wonderful to see so many students participating in the dress-up activities and celebrating the joy of reading. In a world filled with constant distractions, taking time to recognise and value books, stories and the power of literature has never been more important.

Thank you to all our students and staff for making Week 6 such a positive and successful one. I hope you enjoy reading the more detailed accounts of these events in this edition of the newsletter. 

HSC Creative & Performing Arts Showcase

We’re excited to invite our Trinity community to our HSC Creative and Performing Arts Showcase on Monday 31 August in the Performing Arts Centre (PAC).

Our Year 12 Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts students have been working incredibly hard on their major works and performances, and this is a wonderful opportunity to see the creativity, talent and dedication they have poured into their HSC projects.

Come along for one performance or stay for the evening - no RSVP is required, just come along and enjoy the showcase!

Year 8 PDHPE

As part of their PDHPE Target Sports unit, all four Year 8 classes have enjoyed the opportunity to attend Bowling. Students have been honing their skills, including accuracy, precision, coordination, and strategy, in a fun and engaging environment. 

The experience allowed students to apply their learning in a practical setting while developing sportsmanship and confidence. It was fantastic to see students challenging themselves and enjoying success throughout the sessions.

Food and Cultural Exchange

Year 11 Food Technology students enjoyed a cultural exchange this week with French exchange student Alizé-Anaïs Chaput, who shared a traditional French dessert, Moelleux au Chocolat. Served warm with a soft, rich chocolate centre, the recipe was well received by both students and teachers. 

Thank you, Alizé, for sharing this delicious recipe and a taste of French culture with our class.

SLR Rafting on the Ovens River

On Thursday 27 August, our Sport and Lifestyle Recreation (SLR) students enjoyed an incredible white water rafting experience in Bright. The day was filled with excitement, teamwork, challenge and plenty of fun, with students making the most of the opportunity to put their skills into practice on the river.

This memorable experience was the culmination of months of hard work and preparation. Throughout the year, students have completed training in canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding and a water safety unit, developing the knowledge, confidence and practical skills required for the rafting adventure.

The students represented the school exceptionally well and embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and resilience. Judging by the smiles in the photos, it is safe to say the day was a huge success!

We are extremely grateful to Wodonga TAFE for providing this amazing opportunity and for supporting our students in such a valuable and rewarding outdoor education experience. Their generosity and expertise helped make the day one that students will remember for years to come.
