Weekly Values Focus - Responsibility

Week 6: Footscray West students take responsibility for their learning choices and are ready to learn.

At our school, we know that being ready to learn means making responsible choices that help ourselves and others. When we are prepared, focused, and engaged, we make the most of our learning time and take responsibility for our own progress. Everyone has the right to learn, and the choices we make can support that learning for everyone.

We show this by being active listeners, following instructions, and sitting in the right place for learning. We use break times for eating, drinking, and going to the toilet so that we are ready to focus when lessons begin. Being prepared also means having the correct materials, staying on task, and following through to complete what we start. These small actions help us learn more effectively and avoid distracting others.

This week, think about the learning choices you make. Could you check that you have the right materials before class begins? Could you choose a seating position that helps you focus? Could you be ready and lined up before the bell goes? Each time we take responsibility for being ready to learn, we create a classroom where everyone can succeed.
