Term 3 in Physical Education and Sport

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

 

Preps – will be involved in simple gymnastics activities incorporating rocking, rolling, balancing in individual and partner situations. FMS of the soccer kick and the football punt with the focus on correct technique, accuracy and distance using a variety of balls in drills and games.

 

We conclude the term with balls games incorporating the skills we have worked on so far this year.

 

Grades 1/2 – will be involved in gymnastic activities incorporating rolling, balancing, static and rhythmic movement in individual, partner and group situations. FMS of the soccer kick and the football punt with the focus on correct technique, accuracy and distance using a variety of balls in drills and games.

 

Grades 3/4 – are focusing on the skills of Track and Field events including, Shot put, Discus, Long jump, Triple jump, High jump, Hurdles and Sprints. Grade 4 children attended the School Athletics Carnival and their results in the above events will be included in the selection of the school Athletics Team. In the second half of the term we will be focusing on Soccer kick such as side foot pass, chipping a ball, volley and half volley and Footy kicks such as drop punt, dribble kick and drop kick.

 

Grades 5/6 – are focusing on the skills of Track and Field events including, Shot put, Discus, Long jump, Triple jump, High jump, Hurdles and Sprints. Senior students attended the School Athletics Carnival and their results in the above events will be included in the selection of the school Athletics Team. In the second half of the term we will be focusing on Soccer kicks such as side foot pass, chipping a ball, volley and half volley and Footy kicks such as drop punt, dribble kick and drop kick using preferred and non preferred leg.

 

EVENTS IN SPORT THIS TERM

 

The school Athletics Carnival was held at Aberfeldie Park for students in grade 4 to 6 on Wednesday 5th August. This was an all day carnival with children able to select a maximum of four and a minimum of three of the following events:

 

  • Running – 100m, 80m hurdles.
  • Throwing – shot put, siscus.
  • Jumping – long jump, high jump, triple jump.
