2nd Sunday of Lent year B

In this Sunday’s Gospel we read of Jesus transfiguration, witnessed by the apostles Peter, James and John as they were on the mountain. We are reminded of need to commit and to work towards our own transformation, body mind and soul and that God ardently desires that each one of us should share in the transfigured life of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our year 12 students last week took part in our school’s very first year 12 retreat. I was honoured to witness a form of transformation in our students as they gathered strength and courage to analyse their lives, their place in their family, as a friend, as individuals on their own faith journey and as members of our community and a people with options. Students and staff spent time together in prayer over the 3 days including their Ash Wednesday liturgy and Thursday evenings beautiful candlelight liturgy.

Ash Wednesday liturgies were also held at St Anne’s College in the School of Wonder, School of Innovation and School of Possibilities. Each liturgy was led by staff and at the end students were introduced to Caritas Project Compassion 2024. Our St Anne’s College community is committed through our Social Justice program, Caritas fundraising, awareness and other school wide activities, to work towards transforming our world. We recognise the transforming gift of the Holy Spirit in all people and ask you to pray for us as we take our transformative steps in the world around us.
