Science Alive Incursion

Our students had an exciting and hands-on science experience with Scientist Mick from Science Alive! 

The incursion was fun, engaging and highly interactive, with students encouraged to get involved, make predictions and explore how science works in the world around us.  Our Pre-Primary to Year 3 students explored the fascinating topic of “Push and Pull”. 

They investigated how forces can make objects move through a range of exciting demonstrations and activities. Students explored rolling cars, discovered how bow and arrows use push and pull forces, and investigated how different forces cause movement. 

There were plenty of “wow!” moments as students watched hairdryers to move balls through the air and experienced the excitement of creating and exploring giant bubbles! 

Year 4 to 6 delved into “Forces and Motion,” building understanding through experiments with water, magnets and object movement; several students volunteered to take part in demonstrations and learned simple, safe experiments they can replicate at home using everyday materials. 

Across all year levels, the sessions supported curriculum outcomes in scientific inquiry and physical sciences, strengthened problem-solving and teamwork skills, and sparked curiosity by showing real-world applications of classroom concepts. The incursion was thoroughly enjoyed by students and staff alike, keeping everyone engaged, excited and eager to explore science further.

It was wonderful to see our students so enthusiastic, curious and eager to participate.
