Leadership updates and reflections
An update from Julie:
As the term edges closer to the end we congratulate our students on the way they continue to be engaged in their learning. In Challenge Based Learning, classes are moving towards to taking action - which is the part that most excites students. We can't wait for the Grade 5/6 market next week where students will be setting up stalls to showcase their business ideas, selling a variety of goods they have created to hopefully generate a profit for good.
Last week's Book Fair was a great success with over $4000 worth of books sold, resulting in a commission of around $1400 for us to spend on books for our library. Thank you to all of our families for supporting the fair and for also finding so many coins to send along for the Grade 6 Graduation Coin Trail fundraiser! There were thousands of coins sent along making very long lines on the basketball court! A great maths activity! We are waiting for the final outcome of which grade created the longest trail - we'll keep you posted!
Congratulations also to the students who represented our school at last week's District Athletics. Well done to each student for trying their best and good luck to those who will be heading off to Regionals. All the best also to our Grade 3/4s and 5/6s who will be representing Wonga Park at Hooptime this week. Have a great day!
Donuts With Dad
Our Donuts with Dad was a fabulous morning with an incredible turn out of our dads and special people. The weather was kind and there was great fun being had with decorated frisbees, big games, classroom activities, the photo booth, and of course the donuts! It was wonderful to see the joy on the faces of our kids making special memories with their dads.
Planning for 2027
We are starting to do our planning for 2027. Our prep enrolment process has been completed and we look forward to meeting our new preps at their four transition sessions in Term 4. Transition sessions are also planned throughout the last term for all of our students in Grades 1-5 to help them feel comfortable and confident about the move to a new level, new teacher, new classroom and potentially a new building!
This is often the time that some parents also get anxious about how their child will cope with these changes. This can also prompt parents to reach out with requests for the coming year. Creating grades for the next year is a complex process with many factors that teachers consider – including gender balance, academic, social and emotional needs, interests and friendships. Although a huge task, teachers have the benefit of knowing children really well as learners, who they work well with and who they have healthy friendships with, and they use this knowledge to help ensure that every child is placed carefully with their needs in mind so that they can continue to grow and flourish.
Teachers also ask students to identify a list of peers who they work well with and/or are friends with. This information is used along with teacher judgement to ensure every child is placed with a friend and people they learn well with.
Early next term parents will be invited to email, if they wish, information of an educational nature, that they would like teachers to consider as they undertake this process. If it is the form of a ‘request’, please ensure that it is limited to one request only, as multiple requests are not able to be considered.
Movie Night - All Welcome
We are hoping that there are lots of families getting ready with their chairs, picnic rugs and blankets for the Wonga Park Movie Night this Saturday night on the oval. There will be food vans with lots of delicious dinner options before the movie starts as soon as it gets dark! The kids are very excited that the movie is Beauty and the Beast! Hope to see you there.

Disability and Inclusion
The Benefits of an Inclusive School Community
I frequently shared information about Inclusion and our desire to ensure that we want every child to feel that they belong, are valued and have the opportunity to thrive.
Inclusive education is about creating learning environments where all students, including students with disability, can participate, learn and build meaningful relationships alongside their peers.
Research shared by AllPlay Learn highlights that inclusive school communities benefit everyone. For students, inclusion can support positive relationships with teachers, strengthen friendships and social skills, encourage cooperation, and help develop positive attitudes towards diversity. It also supports learning that recognises and builds on each child's individual strengths and abilities.
The benefits extend beyond students. Inclusive practices can strengthen relationships between teachers and students, encourage innovative and responsive teaching, and build stronger connections between families and their school community.
Perhaps most importantly, inclusive schools help children learn that difference is a natural and valued part of our community. By learning, playing and growing together, our students develop understanding, acceptance and respect for others, qualities that extend well beyond the classroom.

Cyber Safety
Staff training: Cyber Safety Educator
Last week, our staff continued to build their knowledge in Cyber Safety by completing the Cyber Savvy Educator module through the Cyber Safety Project.
Staff explored current social networking and online platforms popular with young people, digital habits and how children are using technology today, and ways to embed cyber safety education into the classroom. A particular focus was on proactive strategies that help students make safe, positive and responsible choices online and build a positive digital reputation.
Building our staff knowledge in this area supports our ongoing commitment to helping students become safe, confident and responsible digital citizens.
