Year 4 Spotlight

What a Successful First Camp!

Traditionally, Year 4 Camp has been held in term four. However, due to limited availability, this year’s camp was scheduled for the middle of term two, when more than half of our students were yet to turn 10... and the weather was much colder and wetter.

It was such a success!

Our students embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, resilience and a positive attitude. From participating in outdoor activities and completing group duty after meals, to sharing cabins and developing greater independence, the students represented our school with pride. They demonstrated our school’s values by being respectful, being resilient, being learners and being safe. They supported one another, stepped outside their comfort zones and created lasting memories with their peers.

A highlight of the camp was seeing students grow in confidence as they tried new experiences, strengthened friendships and developed valuable life skills. We are incredibly proud of the way they conducted themselves throughout the two days.

A huge thank you to our staff  and parent helpers for their dedication and care in making the camp such a positive experience, and to our families for their support in preparing students for this exciting adventure.

Below is the Camp Report written by our students:

Grade 4 camp

Camp was a super experience. It was full of fun and educational activities to explore, such as archery, animal encounter, kitchen garden, low ropes, nature walk, flying fox, and big swing. The cabins were a blast! The rooms were full of bunk beds, between 4-10 kids could fit in a room with a locker each. The chefs made delicious and a wide selection of food, there was something for everyone.

Highlights

Lots of people’s favourite highlights were the flying fox and the big swing because it felt like you were flying. Some other people’s favourite was the animal encounter where we got to hold a frog or a python.

Here are some of our favourite moments:

  • I liked the giant swing the most because I’ve been on it before but, I forgot how terrifying it was. ~ Hayley
  • I think the giant swing was my highlight because it went 18 metres high and because I like heights. ~ Chakib
  • My favourite part was archery because it was fun and chill. ~ Maggie C
  • My favourite was the wildlife room because we learnt about taxidermy animals, and we touched them all. I held the diamond python and learnt how to save the animals. ~ Austin
  •  My favourite was the flying fox because it went really fast on the way down and at the start, I did a trust fall backwards. ~ Beau
  • I liked the low ropes because it was more dangerous than the high ropes. ~ Alexa
