You may have noticed some unusual posters appearing around the school recently… staff members caught reading in funny and unexpected situations!

These posters are part of our new library initiative, Caught Reading!, designed to help build a strong reading culture across our school. The aim is to show students that reading isn’t just something we do in class or the library, it’s something people genuinely enjoy every day.

The posters have already sparked lots of smiles, conversations, and excitement about books. Keep an eye out for more appearing throughout the term!

Premier's Reading Challenge

We are excited to be participating in the Premier's Reading Challenge this year! The PRC encourages students to develop a love of reading by challenging them to read a set number of books throughout the year.

🤔 How Do I Choose the Right PRC Books?

Our library has thousands of PRC books to enjoy! To make choosing easy, simply look for the coloured spine sticker that matches your year level:

Reception - Year 2: 🔴 Red Sticker

Year 3 - Year 5: 🟢 Green Sticker

Year 6: 🔵 Blue or 🟡 Yellow Sticker

To successfully complete the Challenge, students need to read:

8 PRC books (books from the PRC list)

4 Free Choice books (any books you enjoy!)

That’s 12 books in total 🎉

Have some books at home and not sure if they count for the PRC? You can easily check by visiting the official PRC website below to search for eligible titles.

🎉 Weekly Lucky Dip Prize

There is a Lucky Dip draw for the students who hand in their completed and signed PRC forms each week. Every Friday, one lucky student will be drawn and will get to choose a prize!

The PRC ends on Friday 4th September 2026 (Week 7, Term 3).

Let’s keep up the great reading and make this our best PRC year yet! 📖

Borrowing

Here's  how borrowing works in the library:

Reception -  Can borrow 4 books

Years 1, 2, 3, 4 -  Can borrow 8 books

Years 5 and 6 - Can borrow 10 books

Parents/Caregivers - Can borrow 10 books

Please note: The borrowing numbers listed above are a guide. Classroom teachers may adjust how many books students can borrow at a time based on their class routines and individual needs. If you’re ever unsure, please check with your classroom teacher.

Please remember to bring your library bag (Reception and Year 1/2) and return any overdue books before borrowing again. Books may be kept for up to 2 weeks. If you’ve forgotten to return a book, no worries! Just pop it into the returns box when you can.

Returns

Students can return books by placing them in their classroom library box or directly into the green returns box in Tirkandi.

Please note that only staff members may use the returns computer. If you come across a book that’s been damaged, please place it in the Book Doctor box so it can be repaired.

Computer Borrowing

Computer borrowing is available for Years 3 to 6 each morning from 8:40am to 8:50am. These computers are for students who have damaged their own device or forgotten to bring it.

All borrowed computers must be returned to the library by the end of the day.

  • If a computer is forgotten three times, borrowing will pause for three days.

  • If it happens again, the restriction period will be extended.

Overdue, Lost or Damaged Books

The library policy regarding overdue, lost, or damaged books is as follows:

  • If a book is lost or returned damaged, a $15 fee will be charged.

  • If the book is found later, the full amount will be reimbursed.

Students will not be able to borrow further books until the overdue book is returned or the replacement fee is paid. All collected fees go directly toward replacing the lost or damaged item.

Happy reading! ✨
