YEAR 10 KEY INFORMATION: WEEK 7

Year 10 Retreat – Term 3, Week 2

Information regarding the Year 10 Retreat has now been sent to families. To ensure the smooth organisation of this important experience, we ask that all families complete the permission form promptly, particularly with regard to dietary requirements and medical information.

Please note, the Retreat is a compulsory component of the Year 10 program. It provides a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on their personal growth, relationships, and future aspirations. Students will be organised into two groups, with groupings and accommodation arrangements finalised over the coming weeks.

Students not attending the Retreat at a given time will remain at school and participate in an alternative program aligned with our theme, “Planning Your Journey.” This will include visits to TAFE and JCU, supporting students as they explore future pathways. Further details will be shared by Mrs Earl in due course.

This is a significant period for our Year 10 students, with the Subject Selection Expo scheduled the week prior to the Retreat, followed by SET Planning interviews the week after. We strongly encourage families to begin discussing subject options and pathways, and to reach out with any questions to ensure informed decision-making.

Relay For Life – Senior Student Team

This year, St Mary’s Catholic College will be entering a Senior Student Team in the Relay For Life event on Saturday 1 August, supporting the Cancer Council and raising funds for this important cause.

An Expression Of Interest form has been released for senior students wishing to participate. Involvement may include contributing to fundraising initiatives leading up to the event, as well as taking part in the overnight Relay, which runs from 2:00pm Saturday to 8:00am Sunday.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to demonstrate service, compassion, and community spirit, whilst contributing to a meaningful and impactful cause.

2027 Ergon/Energex Apprenticeships

Ergon and Energex are offering a series of information sessions to help students gain valuable industry knowledge and strengthen their understanding of the application process ahead of the 2027 apprenticeship intake.

Applications open on 12 June 2026. Please note that registration is required to attend the information sessions.

Defence Force Work Experience - Navy

Applications are now open for Navy Work Experience in Cairns. This is a fantastic opportunity for students interested in exploring careers within the Australian Defence Force.

My School Connect

My School Connect has been rolled out as an ordering and payment system for the Tuckshop, Uniform Shop, Library items (including new laptop skins, power cords, and library books), extracurricular sports tours, instrumental music fees, and more.

If you have not yet activated your My School Connect account, please do so using the activation link that was sent to your file email address in January.

If you require a new activation code, please contact support@myschoolconnect.com.au, and they will be able to reissue the activation link if required.

School Fees and Levies - Term 2, 2026

School fees and levies for Term 2 were issued via email on Wednesday, 6 May 2026. The due date for payment was Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

Please contact the Accounts Team to set up an approved payment plan if you were unable to pay in full by the due date. Thank you to those families that have paid in full or already have an approved payment plan.
