Welcome back, Welcome back!!! The weather is wet but the spirits are high because the Circus is coming to town! When I say circus I mean “Joey’s Du Soleil!”.
Students of St Joseph's Barraba are participating in a 10 week PE, CAPA and Sport program to produce a circus performance extravaganza to be presented to the parents and the community on the last Friday of Term 3, the 26th of September 2025. You thought the Sports Carnivals were fun, just wait until our Circus Carnival Afternoon. So permanent marker that date into your diaries.
Last week the wet weather didn't stop us as we made our own set of Juggling Balls out of rice and balloons and started to learn the skill of juggling. Juggling can be a surprisingly valuable skill for primary school students for several reasons both physical and cognitive. It Improves brain function and coordination, boosts focus and concentration, and enhances motor skills. Also they just love it!! This week the focus has been on balancing and team work. Each week will have a different focus to cover all the fundamental movement skills and also explore the areas of performance and movement to music. Stay tuned each week to discover what skills we will uncover next!
We would also like to thank the Armidale Diocesan Office as we were able to purchase the landing mats for this initiative which will also double for our High Jump mats through the CAPA Grant application process. A wonderful initiative to be able to provide our students with unique learning opportunities.
Talking sport, we have two main events happening this term. The Diocesan Athletics Carnival which will be held Thursday the 7th of August, 2025 in Tamworth and the Soccer Gala day which will be held Tuesday the 23rd of September in Tamworth. We have 23 students going to the Diocesan Athletics Carnival next Thursday to represent our School and we wish them all the best of luck in the events that they have qualified for.
Congratulations to Arley, Neveah, Cooper, Angus, Lucas, Jax, Stella, Makenna, Piper, Chastity, Dexter, Charlie, Chase, Ryder, Georgie, Mia, Nahla, Eddie, Parker, James, Emily, Hadley and Milah and GOOD LUCK!!
