BOOK WEEK
It's that time of year again where we start to look at the new shortlisted books for the year, think about costumes and plan to celebrate all-things books!
We will have a school-wide Book Week celebration on Thursday, 21st August at 10.00am. All students are encouraged to dress up as a favourite book character and 'Book an Adventure' with a story! Please note that this year, all students will need to bring their sports uniform along to change into following the parade, due to the Gymnastics program falling on that same day.
LOCAL TREASURE
Yesterday we received a very special item in the mail: our very own copy of the book "A New Crown" by Peta Wilson. This copy has been kindly donated by the author to our school. It is a very special book about a very special lady who grew up in Barraba: Joyce Abra, and is written by her granddaughter who also grew up here. It is quite something to open the pages of a children's book and see the very familiar landmarks of Queen Street so beautifully drawn, to read familiar property names and to see local names in the dedication. You might even recognise the facade of a certain shop on the front cover! I look forward to sharing this special story with the young people of our school in the weeks to come. Thank you to Peta Wilson for your donation to our school.
LIBRARY FUN
BORROWING DAYS
Of course, the library is open every lunch time and students can return and borrow books at that time.
Happy reading!
