Prep

It’s hard to believe we are almost at the end of Term 3! It has been a busy term, jam-packed full of fun events and exciting visitors for the Prep students. 

TwistEd Science Excursion

A highlight of the term so far was our very first Prep excursion to TwistEDscience! The students had a wonderful time exploring, investigating and discovering the world of science through hands-on experiences. In the Science Lab, the Preps experimented with light and sound, learning about how each is produced and exploring the different sources that allow us to see and hear the world around us. The students also thoroughly enjoyed exploring the exhibition floor, which was filled with interactive experiences designed to encourage curiosity, problem-solving and scientific thinking. It was a fantastic day of learning, exploration and fun, and the Preps certainly made the most of this exciting opportunity to learn beyond the classroom!

Book Week

Throughout Oatlands Book Week, the Prep students participated in so many fun activities! We explored the children’s story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’, voted for our favourite books in a very exciting ‘Battle of the Books’ and set off on a Book Trail where we read all about friendship and sport, through the pages of ‘The Sports Storeroom’. The Prep students also attended an incursion from Perform Education where we were treated to an interactive performance that featured a selection of the CBCA short listed books. At the end of Book Week, we dressed up as a scene from ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and performed for the whole school. We all looked so amazing!

 Kids Roar Incursion

Our Kids Roar session was also incredibly engaging and informative. It taught the students that they have the right to feel safe at all times and that they can talk about anything with someone they trust. They learned important skills and strategies to help empower them to take charge of their own personal safety.

Grass heads

As part of our Discovery Unit, we grew our own grass heads to discover how plants grow. It has been very exciting to watch our seeds growing each day and learn more about what helps them sprout lush green grass!!

Grandparents Afternoon

We also had our first Grandparents Day. Our special visitors were so generous with their time and loved sharing their stories, experience and knowledge with us. It was a lovely way to honour the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren.

 And if all of that wasn’t enough, we still have our Father’s Day morning to look forward to! The fun never stops in Prep Land!
