Parent/Carer Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS/CARERS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent/Carer Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent/Carer Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 17 August to Friday 18 September 2026.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

PLEASE NOTE: Only one parent/carer from your household is invited to complete the survey on behalf of the student’s family.

Please reach out to the school if your child’s family lives in two separate households, so both households can have the opportunity to provide their feedback.

To protect your responses, please DO NOTshare the survey link and PIN with others, or on a public website, forum or similar.

Please be assured that your responses are completely confidential

Sun Smart Dress Code

Sun safety is a shared responsibility. Staff, parents and students are encouraged to implement a combination of sun protection measures whenever UV levels reach 3 and above (typically from mid-August to the end of April in Victoria). Guidelines supporting our students and staff to help minimise the risk of sun damage and skin cancer are outlined in the Sun Smart policy.

The school’s Dress Code policy outlines expectations for students regarding appropriate clothing within a school environment. There are specific aspects of this policy that relate to sun protection outlining that brief clothing is not appropriate for school – this includes singlets, short skirts and shorts, exposed mid-riffs and thongs footwear.

Information about the daily local sun protection times is available via the free SunSmart app, or at sunsmart.com.au or bom.gov.au

Complaints

Eltham High School welcomes feedback, both positive and negative, and is committed to continuous improvement. We value open communication with our families and are committed to understanding complaints and addressing them appropriately. We recognise that the complaints process provides an important opportunity for reflection and learning.

Parent Payment

Schools must not have their own local Parent Payment Policy but instead must follow and implement the Department's Parent Payments Policy on the Parent Payments page of the Department's Policy and Advisory Library (PAL). This Parent Payments Policy outlines the ways in which schools can request financial contributions from parents and ensures that parent payment practices in Victorian government schools are consistent, transparent and that all students have access to the Curriculum.
