Regional Athletics Carnival 

Congratulations to the 19 students who represented Eltham High School at the Regional Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 9 September, competing across a range of track and field events against some of the best athletes from across the region. 

It was a fantastic day of competition, with our students showing plenty of determination, sportsmanship and school pride. As a team, Eltham High School finished 16th overall, collecting an impressive 2 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals. 

A huge congratulations to Yorke Murray – Year 9 (Toner) and Izzy Watson – Year 7 (Pakana), who have both qualified for the State Athletics Finals after outstanding performances. 

Yorke produced an exceptional run to take gold in the 1500m, while Izzy continued her strong year by claiming gold in the shot put. We wish both Yorke and Izzy all the very best as they take on the best athletes in the state! 

Ben Kerr – Year 11 (Skipper) also deserves a special mention after an excellent performance in the javelin, finishing in second place and taking home a well-earned silver medal. 

Our relay teams were also a highlight of the day, with both the 15 Boys and 17 Boys teams finishing with silver medals. The 15 Boys team of Yorke Murray – Year 9 (Toner), Jesse Porter – Year 9 (Everard), Charlie Stow – Year 9 (Toner) and Alex Filmer – Year 9 (Pakana), showed great teamwork and determination to finish second. The 17 Boys team of Ben Kerr – Year 11 (Skipper), Aviv Shafran – Year 11 (Everard), Zac Cochrane – Year 11 (Toner) and Archer Cole-Sinclair – Year 11 (Toner) also put together an outstanding performance to secure silver. 

A massive congratulations to all 19 students who competed throughout the day.  Representing the school at a Regional level is a fantastic achievement in itself, and we are incredibly proud of the effort, commitment and sportsmanship shown by everyone.

Well done, Yorke and Izzy, and congratulations to the entire Eltham High School Athletics team!
