Father's Day
St Mary’s enjoyed a wonderful Father’s Day morning, beginning with a bacon and egg breakfast for students, families and special guests. A special thank you went to Allyson and Amelia for cooking breakfast and helping get the morning off to such a great start.
This was followed by a beautiful Father’s Day Liturgy, where we gave thanks for the fathers, grandfathers and significant male role models who play such an important part in the lives of our students. Thank you also to our staff for preparing the students so thoughtfully for the liturgy and helping make the celebration so meaningful. The morning then continued with a fun aerobics session, which brought plenty of energy and laughter to the celebration.
Students finished the morning by creating personalised leatherwork keyrings as a special handmade gift for their male role models. This activity provided a meaningful way to recognise the guidance, support and positive influence these important people have in the lives of our children.
A special thank you also goes to Double D Leather and Canvas for supporting us with the leatherwork activity and helping make the personalised keyrings possible. Finally, thank you to all families and guests who joined us and helped make the morning such a memorable celebration for our St Mary’s community.
Book Week
St Mary’s celebrated Book Week with plenty of enthusiasm, colour and creativity as students arrived dressed as some of their favourite book characters. Staff also joined in the fun, with everyone embracing the spirit of this year’s theme, “Book an Adventure: Symphony of Stories”.
The day began with our Book Week parade, giving students and staff the chance to proudly show off their costumes and celebrate the many characters and stories that inspire a love of reading. Students also took part in creative classroom activities, including designing their own book covers.
A highlight of the day was our visit to the Inglewood Kindergarten, where students had the opportunity to share books and their love of reading with the younger children. It was wonderful to see our students reading aloud, talking about stories and helping create such a positive and enjoyable experience for the kindergarten children.
Thank you to our students and staff for getting involved so enthusiastically and helping make Book Week a memorable celebration.
Hope and Action Sustainability Education Summit
Our Year 2/3 students recently attended the Hope and Action Sustainability Education Summit at the Garden for the Future in White Hills, Bendigo. Throughout the day, students rotated through a range of short, hands-on activities focused on sustainability, environmental awareness and taking positive action to care for our world. The day included a Welcome to Country, an environmental theatre performance and activities delivered by a range of organisations including ResourceSmart Schools, the City of Greater Bendigo, North Central Catchment Management Authority, River Detectives, Bendigo Foodshare, OzHarvest FEAST, Coliban Water and other local environmental groups.
The summit gave students the opportunity to learn more about waste reduction, climate action, active transport, water, food sustainability and protecting our local environment. Most importantly, it encouraged students to recognise that even small actions can make a positive difference.
A special thank you to Elissa Wilson for attending the day with our students and supporting them throughout the activities.
Ms Fenwick
We congratulate Ms Fenwick on accepting an offer to join the inaugural staff of St Thomas Aquinas in Huntly in 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for Tayla as she prepares to become part of a new school community from its very beginning.
Ms Fenwick will continue working at St Mary’s for the remainder of the year; however, from time to time in she may be required to attend St Thomas Aquinas as part of the preparation and transition process for the new school.
Please note: Tayla will also be taking unexpected leave during the final week of Term 3.
