2026 VCE Revision Lectures

Revision Lecture Funding

As we head towards the end of Term 3, many students completing a Unit 3 and 4 subject are starting to turn their attention to the end of year exams. This year, the Department is again providing some funding to rural schools to help cover the costs of revision lectures. With many being online these days, often providing study notes and practice exams or questions, these are now a great option for our students to help with their end of year preparation.

Subject teachers will be advertising relevant lectures for their students, and I strongly encourage them to take up these opportnities. All students participated in a session from Elevate Education in May this year, whose goal is to help students improve study techniques, increase motivation, build confidence and boost exam/test performance. A key message from these sessions was the main difference for students who do better in their exams comes down to the number of practice exams they have completed. This also reinforces why we run practice exams during the year, so that the students are exposed to the style of questioning found in exams.

Vietnam Veteran’s Day

Vietnam Veteran's Day occurs on the 18th of August each year, in particular remembering the Battle of Long Tan. The significance of this battle was the small number of Australian soldiers who faced the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong soldiers who were nearly 20 times more in number. In spite of the horrendous conditions, the Australian soldiers were victorious.

Australia better recognises those that served in the Vietnam conflict now. We thank the veterans who served in this conflict and remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice, but this wasn’t always the case. On Monday, 2 students laid a wreath at our town’s cenotaph on behalf of the school, to honour all Vietnam Veterans.

Consent Labs

This week, students in Years 7 – 12 participated in an education session from Consent Labs. Luckily the strike day did not go ahead on Wednesday as planned, as these sessions had already been postponed once, due to the last strike day in July. 

The session consolidates the Respectful Relationships education which is part of the Victorian Curriculum. Respectful Relationships is taught at school and is supported by our School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports. The session reinforced the importance of our first value, respect; respect in our actions, behaviours, or words; whether that is between or with students, staff or our wider community.

Term 3 Conferences

SAVE THE DATE – Term 3 Conferences (formerly Parent Teacher interviews)

Our Term 3 Conferences will be happening on Tuesday 15th September, the last Tuesday of term. Bookings for the 10 minute appointments will open in Compass closer to the time. Keep your eyes posted.

Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey (PCGOS)

A reminder to complete this survey, which will be open until Friday 19th September. While the survey is optional, I strongly encourage one member from all families to participate, so all families are represented. The online survey takes about 20 minutes to complete and can be completed on a range of devices and collects family perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. A link was sent to families as a Compass Newsfeed item on Monday 17th August.
