St Margaret Mary Alacoque was a kind and prayerful nun who lived in France a long time ago—she was born in 1647 and became a saint because of her deep love for Jesus.
Even as a child, Margaret Mary loved spending time in prayer. When she was very sick, she promised Mary, the mother of Jesus, that she would become a nun if she got better—and she did! She kept her promise and joined a convent when she was 24 years old.
We celebrate St Margaret Mary’s Feast Day on October 16 to remember her life, her faith, and the way she helped others grow closer to Jesus. She is the patron saint of people who love the Sacred Heart, those who have lost parents, and those who are sick.
Feast Day Celebrations - Save the date!
We warmly invite all parents and carers to be part of our special Feast Day celebrations for St Margaret Mary on Thursday, October 16. It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together as a school community and celebrate with joy, fun, and faith. Please find below an overview of the days activities:
9:00am – Feast Day Mass
11:00am – Sausage Sizzle
11:30am–1:00pm – Stalls & Activities
1:45pm – Talent Show Finals
Whether you can join us for one event or stay for the whole day, your presence will make it even more special!
Parent Helpers Needed!
We’d love some extra hands to help with the sausage sizzle and to run stalls and activities. Even a short time volunteered would be greatly appreciated and help make the day a success.
Please email holley.curley@syd.catholic.edu.au if you are able to help in any way.
Prayer for St Margaret Mary
Dear St Margaret Mary, You loved Jesus with all your heart and taught us to trust in His Sacred Heart.
Help us to be kind, loving, and full of faith. Teach us to pray and listen to Jesus, just like you did.
May we always remember how much Jesus loves us.
St Margaret Mary, pray for us.
Amen.
