Principal's Report

Welcome back to Term 4, Syndal South families! I would also like to extend a very warm welcome to our 4 new families that have joined the Syndal South Primary School community this term. I hope everyone enjoyed a restful break and had the chance to recharge. It's a busy and rewarding term ahead, with plenty of learning, celebrations and opportunities for our students to finish the year strongly. I'm looking forward to seeing the growth and achievements that Term 4 will bring.
A special good luck to our Year 5 and 6 students taking part in the Victorian Solar Competition being held at Science works on Sunday 25th October. These students have worked hard all year! Their creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm for science and sustainability have been fantastic to see, and the effort they have put in is a credit to them and to Ian, Steven and Mrs G-P who have supported them. Whatever the result, you should all be very proud of what you have achieved. Go Syndal South!
At Syndal South Primary School, we believe a good school is one that never stops asking how it can get better. That is why the annual Parent Opinion Survey is so valuable to us and we thank those parents who completed the survey. The survey gives families a voice in the future direction of our school and gives us honest, practical feedback on what we are doing well and where we can do more.
I'm delighted to share that our results were very pleasing. In particular, General satisfaction with the school achieved a 91% positive endorsement. This is a wonderful reflection of the hard work of our teachers and support staff, and of the strong partnership between our school and our families.
While we celebrate this result, we also use the survey to identify areas for growth. One factor we will focus on in the coming year is teachers communicating with parents about their child's progress. We know that clear, timely and meaningful communication helps families support their children's learning at home, and we value the support families provide at home towards their child’s education.
To do this, we will be asking parents how they would best like to hear about their child's performance at school. Whether that's through written reports, online platforms, emails, parent-teacher conversations or a combination, we want to find what works best for you. Keep an eye out for more information about how you can share your thoughts, as your input will help shape our approach.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our school community.
