Grade 1 & 2

Term 1 - Week 10

Welcome to our last week of Term 1. The children have been amazing and have participated in many activities and learning.

Our Religion unit has been wonderful and the children have enjoyed the lessons. We looked at the Catholic social teaching about how to live in ‘right relationship’ with others. This teaching reminds Christians that God wants them to love all people. We then studied the parable from the Gospel called ‘The Lost Sheep’. In the story we discovered that we need to seek out and include the ‘lost’ to be in ‘right relationship’ with one another and create a strong community. Our 100 children acted out this story as a whole learning community because there were 100 sheep and one got lost. The children made sheep masks and enjoyed watching our shepherd (Miss Burke) search for the lost sheep, as God loves and searches for those who are lost, brings them back and celebrates.

Our School Sports Day was a great day, and our children all participated in the activities, trying their best throughout. Well done, everyone!

During Literacy time our children illustrated an Easter Egg so that it looked like something in the classroom. It was camouflaged and then hidden in the area where it was drawn from. Children from the other classrooms, in our space, then had to search for the eggs. On our last day of school, after reading The Smallest Bilby and the Easter Games, the children participated in our own Easter Games with an ‘Egg and Spoon’ race, ‘Bunny Hop Relay’, ‘Roll and Draw Easter Bunny’ and ‘Bunnies, Chicks, Eggs’.
