At Mother Teresa Primary School, the safety of our students is our highest priority. To maintain a secure environment, it is important that all families are familiar with our daily timetable and the supervision provided during transition times.
Before School Supervision
Our school gates are unlocked at 8:20am, allowing students and families to enter the grounds. Active staff supervision begins at this time to ensure a safe arrival for everyone. We kindly ask that students do not arrive before 8:20am, as there is no formal supervision on the yard prior to the gates opening. We have found that some students are entering the school via the staff carpark gate when it is open whilst staff are arriving. Please note that pedestrian entry through the staff carpark gate is not permitted.
Students arriving from 8.20am are to move directly to their classroom building. They can wait patiently and safely at that entry point until a teacher opens the door. Please note that students are not to wait in our Reception area before school. If you have concerns about your child waiting outside for this 10 minute period, we invite you to bring them onto school grounds from 8.30am.
At 8:30am, our classrooms are open, and we encourage students to head inside to prepare for the day ahead. Our formal learning begins promptly at 8:50 am with Morning Prayer in the classrooms on Monday to Thursday and as a whole school on Friday. Please note that after 8.50am students are considered late and must collect a Late Pass from the office.
After School Supervision
The school day concludes at 3:30pm. Staff members are on yard duty until 3:45pm to supervise students as they depart. For safety reasons, any student remaining on the grounds after 3:45 pm will be brought to Reception by yard duty staff to await collection.
Playground Equipment: Out of Bounds
To ensure the physical safety of all children during the busy drop-off and pick-up periods, the playground equipment is strictly out of bounds before and after school. While it is tempting for children to play while waiting, the high volume of foot traffic and the nature of these transition times make it difficult to provide the supervision required for safe play on the equipment. We appreciate your support in ensuring your children stay off the equipment during before and after school.
We understand that many of our families require care outside of these supervised hours. MACSEYE Before and After Care operates at MTPS every day of the week to provide a safe and engaging environment for students. If you require care for your child before 8:20am or after 3:45pm, please ensure they are enrolled in this service.
We are pleased to share that before care is now avaliable form 6.30am!
