Acting Principal's Message

We have had a wonderful evening last night celebrating the Grade Six Graduation. Thank you to Miss McCombe and all the staff, parents and carers, as well as the students who made last night's celebration such a success. We were able to listen to the Grade Sixes special memories from their time at George Street, share a meal together and cut a fabulous graduation cake. We will wish the students well in their future secondary schooling but in the meantime, enjoy spending the final couple of weeks together.

Thank you for the families who indicated they were interested in walking in the Christmas parade this evening. Unfortunately, we did not have enough interest to participate this year, we will try again next year. I hope to see some of you down the street enjoying the evening of festivities.

Today we held our 2026 Grade Six captain speeches. This was a fantastic opportunity for our young leaders to shine and step into roles of responsibility. Students wrote their speeches and shared them with our school community. We were very proud of how the students were able to present their speeches publicly.

A reminder for our end of year BBQ that we will celebrate on Thursday 11th December at the Botanical Gardens. We will welcome families with some sausages and bread, and a cheeky ice-cream. Remember as this is not on school grounds and is an after-hours event, this means parents and carers are responsible for the supervision of their own children. If parents cannot make the event and children are attending with another family, please can parents provide written confirmation that the other parent is responsible for the care of the child to the office. Please call the office to RSVP for this event so we can cater accordingly.

We will hold our final transition session this Tuesday with it being a whole school transition session. Our Grade sixes will be at their intended high schools and our new grade preps present. Classroom staffing has not yet been confirmed and may be subject to changes after this date. Families will receive notification of student staff and classes in the approaching weeks.

The weather is starting to get warmer, it seems such a long time coming. Please remember student hats, summer uniform and plenty of water.
