Sport /Art

What another amazing couple of weeks we have had in P.E and The Arts!
In P.E, students have been looking at the skills and strategies required to participate in the Sport of Tee-Ball. Junior students have looked at combining running and catching to practise their fielding strategies, they have also been practising roll and stop strategies to simulate how they can stop other students on the striking team from scoring runs.
Senior students have performed modified games of Tee-Ball, identifying the positions and where to space themselves on the field to stop their opposition striking teams from scoring. Students have also been refining the side arm strike when hitting the Tee Ball and identifying the best place on the field to hit it and try to score runs.
In Art, we have continued to investigate Performing Arts, specifically using emotions to act out a scene.
Junior students created their own Christmas puppets and practised adding voices to show how they were feeling, including how there were events that made them feel a certain way.
Senior students have been working on their improvisation skills, by having a scenario presented to them on the spot and acting it out. Students have then participated in scene change activities where someone will enter the scene and change it completely. They have tackled the challenge with enthusiasm and adapted well.
Our Grade Prep/1, 2/3/4 & 4/5 classes were lucky enough to attend an excursion that was put on by the Arena Theatre Company at the creator lab on Brown Street. Students took photos of objects at the Art Gallery, made some lines for their creatures and then hunted for other schools creatures around the Art Gallery. Our students showed great modelling of our values when we were out in the community and I could not be more proud of them.
