Grade 4/5

The students deserve recognition for their outstanding efforts in completing assessments in reading, writing, mathematics, and spelling. Now that testing has finished, they should be congratulated for the resilience and determination they demonstrated throughout the process.
In English, we have continued reading and engaging in thoughtful discussions about our class novel, The Wild Robot. We have also begun watching the movie adaptation and comparing it to the book, noting similarities and differences.
In Writing, several of our Year 5 students have been preparing their speeches for School Captain, Vice-Captain, and Sports Captain roles. They have spent time practising their speeches and listening carefully to feedback from their classmates. I wish them every success as they present their speeches on Friday.
In Mathematics, students have enjoyed completing their Daily Maths Reviews and learning about addends. They have been solving equations and finding missing addends in both addition and subtraction problems. We have also played some maths games working cooperatively with a partner or small group.
In Wellbeing, we have been learning about safe and unsafe choices. Students have read various scenarios and worked with a partner to identify possible options in each situation and discuss who they could talk to for help.
In Science, students explored the water cycle and conducted hands-on experiments to observe how clouds collect water and eventually produce rain.
