Grade 5/6

What a fantastic past two weeks we have had in Grade 5/6! So many beautiful memories were made and the students have thoroughly enjoyed spending time with each other before the year ends. Thank you to the Grade Six students and their families for such a wonderful Grade 6 Day Out and Graduation. Our graduates represented us with pride down the street, and the graduation ceremony was a huge celebration of our beautiful students' growth, achievements and friendships. It has been an honour getting to watch these young people learn and grow over the years, and I feel very privileged to have taught them for their final year at George Street, especially after being able to teach majority of them in Grades Four and Five as well! I have no doubt that they will achieve so many amazing things in the future.
Our Grade 6 Day Out was action-packed! Starting with a delicious homemade breakfast, which was lovingly prepared by Jackson, Acacia, Anakie and Dakota. Students then made the trip down the street, eagerly getting waves and honks from people on their way! At the cinema, students enjoyed the movie Zootopia 2 and loved having popcorn to snack on. We then went to the Botanic Gardens to enjoy our McDonald's lunch, and have a play. Duck, duck, goose was a fun way end to our time down the street. Back at school, we made chocolate mousse for dessert, had an epic waterfight where we all got SOAKED and then after drying off (& warming up!), played a game of Beanboozled! We also played a Kahoot testing our memory about events of the year, which was a real highlight! Dinner was pizza and garlic bread, and dessert included our mousse, jelly and home-made ice-cream (which didn't work as well as we'd hoped, but was still enjoyed!).
Back in class, we have revised tessellations and angles in Maths, and continued exploring reversible and irreversible changes in Science.
As we enter the final weeks of school, we are looking forward to consolidating our knowledge through revision tasks and making more memories together before the school year ends! Grade 5 students worked hard to create well thought out captain speeches, and confidently presented these in front of the school.
Our final assembly will be next Friday, with Grade 6s able to have their shirts signed on this day by the school community. We can't wait to soak up the last couple of weeks together!
