Year 4 Spotlight

Last Friday, the Year 4 and Year 2 students hosted the Cakes for a Cause fundraiser.
Most excitingly a group of our Year 4 students were selected by their teachers to run the stall, giving them the opportunity to practise real-life money skills. Here are their thoughts on the experience.
4A students
Indigo W - some people didn’t have gold coins, so having to give change back with cents was a challenge because there are so many different coins
Hayley G - there were a lot of people so i had to do a lot of orders and i handled a lot of money
Zac N - it was really fun using money and change. I really enjoyed it, it was like real life math
4B students
Piper S - When I was given a $5 note at the $2 station, it was easy to give change efficiently as I was using coins
Charlotte B - We used our subtraction knowledge with cents and dollars to calculate the change needed
Sam P - Because of our new learning, I was able to calculate the costs of multiple cakes quicky
4C students
Elvin W - I was able to work out each customer's change by using subtraction. Brody J - When customers handed their money and they had dollars and cents I was able to use decimals to calculate the change and I was good at adding people’s items up.
Ari O - I was at the $2 table. Someone gave me $10.50 so I knew it was close to $8. Then I took away the extra 50c.
