Today is the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Feast of the Assumption is one of the most important feast days on the Catholic calendar.

It is said that surrounded by those who loved her, Mary was raised, body and soul, into heaven by Jesus and his holy angels. Mary's earthly body was assumed as a sign of hope for all humanity. One day, our earthly bodies will find delight with Jesus in heaven through the resurrection. By extension, Mary's assumption also affirms the goodness and dignity of our physical bodies.

Jesus, we delight and hope in the resurrection of the body.
Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us
