Realise Your Potential

Year 9 Geelong Tertiary Futures Program Highlights
Our Year 9 students recently had the exciting opportunity to attend the Geelong Tertiary Futures Program (GTFP), where they explored a wide range of career pathways through hands-on taster sessions.
Throughout the day, students participated in activities across hospitality, community services, electrotechnology, building and construction, painting and decorating, animal studies, and many more industries. These sessions gave students valuable insights into different career options, as well as a chance to develop practical skills in real-world settings.
The program encouraged students to start thinking about their future study and career choices, while also showcasing the diverse opportunities available in our region. Many students came away inspired and enthusiastic about pursuing new areas of interest.

Celebrating Success at the GFLOI, GLAM & WoW Graduation
Last Thursday, our incredible Lara Secondary College students shone at the graduation event for the Geelong Manufacturing Council’s leadership programs: GFLOI (Geelong Future Leaders Of Industry), GLAM (Girls Leading Advanced Manufacturing), and WoW (World of Work Clean Economy).
It was a night of youth leadership, innovation, and inspiration — with students hosting, moderating industry panels, and sharing powerful reflections on their journeys through industry tours.
A huge congratulations to Harrison Paton and Malachy Treanor, who were each awarded the prestigious Deakin University Leadership Award ($500) for their outstanding leadership, commitment, and growth. We are so proud of their achievements!
With over 118 guests in attendance and students representing 15 schools across the region, the night highlighted the passion and potential of the next generation of leaders in manufacturing and the clean economy.
We can’t wait to see where our students’ pathways take them next!
