2025 Book Week …. Book an Adventure …

We Celebrated 80 Years of Children’s Book week in 2025

Monday: Began the travel with passports around the continents we set up in the library. At each one there were 3 questions to answer. It turned out to be a bit tricky for some of the students, because they had to look in books and couldn’t GOOGLE the answer, but those that finished enjoyed the ride. And for some it was an educational experience, as they learnt how to use an Index in a book. WOW. The winner of the Adventure around the world was LEXIE EDWARDS in Year 11 and the runner up was Esra Ekinci Year 11. Congratulations to Lexie. She won 2 passes to Adventure Park, so I hope she enjoys them with a friend.

Tuesday: We had a colouring in, and word find created for the theme. The students seemed to enjoy the peaceful time colouring in and relaxing in the library, some were still working on the travel. Passport. But the winner of the Colouring in was Kira Wallis Year 11. The runner up was Dayna Burrell 8C. The entries will be put up in the library very soon. But thank you to all the students who entered, was a difficult decision. The winner of our Find a word was Alyza Foitzic from 11C

Wednesday: There were a few boys who came in to compete for the Paper Plane Competition. They had to Engineer a plane and fly the longest distance. There were many different styles, but I think the thin streamline ones got the distance. They competed in heats and eventually there was a winner. Cooper Ceravolo from 9A was the overall winner, and runner up was Sylas Chandler in 9A.

Congratulations to both boys, they got a canteen voucher and some other lollies and goodies for their efforts. And of course, a certificate of acknowledgement of their wins.

Thursday: Seemed popular as it involved lollies. There was a lolly snake stretching Competition. There were many different ideas and there were a few disasters, and the snakes well split in half. But Congratulations go to Bella Cahir in 7B she managed to stretch her snake 36cm, that was an excellent effort. Well done to Bella.

Friday: We gave out the awards and prizes, the students that won were excited, and the library staff were exhausted after spending the week involved in all activities and decorating the library. We made footsteps into the library which were a talking point, they were there to show all different kind of adventures we can have, safari, hiking, jungle animals, beach holidays and all kind of family adventures. A real talking point.

Thank you for making our Book Week a success, and hopefully next years theme is something we can enjoy as well.
