District Swimming Carnival

The Interschool sport calendar kicked off last week with the Rowville District School Sports Association District Swimming Carnival at Monash Aquatic Centre. 

We had record numbers of students interested in trying out for the Park Ridge team this year, which made it more competitive than ever to earn a spot on the team. All students should be congratulated on how they conducted themselves throughout the try out process. 

I would also like to thank the parents for transported their children to and from our before school training session in the lead up to the district event. The students trained hard and showed great commitment to the team, and it seems the proof was in the pudding, with Park Ridge finishing in 2nd place at the District Carnival – our best result in my 9 years at Park Ridge. All members of the team should be congratulated on this outstanding achievement!

Highlights from the day include:

Open Girls 4 x 50m Medley team featuring Kellence K (Backstroke), Ellee K (Breaststroke), Liah I (Butterfly) and Savannah S (Freestyle) - 1st place

Zach P -  1st place in 50m B Freestyle

Olivia W –  2nd place in 50m B Freestyle and 2nd place in A backstroke

Savannah S - 2nd place in 50m B Freestyle

Logan R – 2nd place in 50m B Backstroke

Ava Z – 1st place in B 50m Backstroke

Mitchell L – 1st place in B 50m Backstroke

Kellence K – 2nd place in A 50m Backstroke

Josh W – 2nd place in 50m A Freestyle and 2nd place in 50m Butterfly, breaking the school record for Under 11 boys with a time of 48.85 seconds.

Liah I – 1st place in 50m A Freestyle and broke the school record for Under 12 girls with a time of 37.13 seconds. 1st place in 50m butterfly, also breaking the school record with a time of 44.58 seconds, as well as 2nd place in 50m Breaststroke

Ellee K – 2nd place 50m A Freestyle, 2nd place in 50m Breaststroke and broke the school record for Under 11 girls with a time of 51.12 seconds, and also 2nd place in 50m Butterfly, once again breaking the school record with a time of 48.19 seconds

Robbie K – 1st place in 50m Breaststroke and broke the school record for Under 10 boys with a time of 1.00.79. 2nd place in 50m Butterfly and also broke the school record with a time of 56.28 seconds.

Under 10 Boys 4 x 50m Freestyle relay team featuring Robbie K, Logan R, Tony Z and Zach P – 1st place and broke the school record with a time of 3.23.05

Under 10 Girls 4 x 50m Freestyle relay team featuring Ava Z, Olivia W, Erica S and Sophia K – 2nd place and broke the school record with a time of 3.27.99

Under 12 Girls 4 x 50m Freestyle relay team featuring Kellence K, Ellee K, Savannah S and Liah I – 2nd place and broke the school record with a time of 2.52.37
