Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,

As we come to the end of another busy and successful term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful students, staff and families for their ongoing support and partnership.

Our Open Classroom afternoons this week were a wonderful celebration of learning, and it was fantastic to see so many parents, carers and family members join us. Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit classrooms and celebrate the incredible learning taking place across our school.

A special thank you also goes to our dedicated staff and students for the time, effort and pride they put into preparing for these afternoons. It was wonderful to see, hear and feel the vibrancy around the school as students confidently showcased their learning. The excitement and sense of pride throughout the school was a wonderful reminder of the strong learning community we have at Heidelberg Primary School.

This week we welcomed five students from various secondary schools, who completed their work experience in classrooms around our school. Four of these students are ex Heidelberg PS students! We thank Mary, Poppy, Isabelle, Samaya and Matilda for how they fitted in and supported students and staff.

We also have some other past HPS students attending to provide community service for 1 hour a week as they work toward achieving the Duke of Edinburgh's Award. We look forward to seeing Oliver, Miles, Noah, Fitzroy and Abraham back next term to continue their community service.

We love to see our past students return and give back with such pride!

World Cup fever hit HPS today! It was great to see everyone dressing for the occasion and getting in the spirit. Students enjoyed the opportunity to view the match and I think the Socceroos would have even heard them all the way over at the San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.

As part of our commitment to supporting schools across our network, there are occasions when school leaders are asked to assist other schools. We are pleased to share that Monique Rankin will be stepping into an Acting Principal role at another school for the first week and a half of next term while their principal is on leave.

We know Monique will do a tremendous job in this role and appreciate her willingness to support another school community. We look forward to welcoming her back to Heidelberg Primary School during the second half of Week 2.

During this time, Nicola Colgate-Jones will take on Monique's roles and responsibilities at Heidelberg Primary School, and we thank Nicola for stepping into this leadership opportunity.

We would like to send our very best wishes to Jane Plunkett, one of our wonderful library teachers, as she recovers from recent surgery to repair a neck and shoulder injury.

Jane, we wish you a smooth and speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming you back when you are feeling well again.

A sincere thank you to Melissa Clark, who has been teaching our Year 2 students in Room 16 while Tom Grisdale has been on Long Service Leave. Melissa has done a fabulous job supporting our students and staff, and we are delighted that she will continue to work with us in casual relief teaching roles. Thank you, Melissa, for your dedication and care.

Finally, thank you to our entire Heidelberg Primary School community for another successful term. The strong partnerships between our students, families and staff continue to make our school such a special place.

We wish everyone a happy, safe and restful holiday break. We hope you enjoy some well-deserved time with family and friends, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 3 on Monday 13 July.
