Advent: A Season of Hope
Advent, meaning "coming," marks the four weeks before Christmas as a time of hope and preparation for Jesus' birth and return. The Advent wreath, with its four candles representing hope, peace, joy and love, is a central symbol. Each week, as another candle is lit, we are invited to reflect on God’s promises and prepare our hearts to welcome Jesus Christ, the Light of the World.
At Lakeside, we mark Advent in the last four weeks of the school year. We have been lighting advent candles, hearing carols and reflecting on the greatest Christmas gift of all - Jesus Christ.
We’ve had some furry friends help us do this in the Primary school. In Week 7, Baaaa-rney - a time-travelling shepherd - visited and told us about meeting Jesus. In Week 8, Humphrey the Camel visited us, and we learned about the Wise Men visiting Jesus.
Christmas is a wonderful season of festivity and fun, filled with lights, laughter and time with loved ones. In the midst of all the excitement, I encourage you to take time to remember what it’s all about: the birth of Jesus, God’s greatest gift to us, bringing hope, peace and love.
May God bless you and your families this Christmas.
