Secondary News

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we come to the close of another incredible year at Lakeside College, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the accomplishments, growth and memories we’ve created together.

This year has been filled with remarkable moments — from academic achievements and exciting extracurricular activities to acts of kindness and resilience in our school community. Our students have worked hard, shown dedication and supported one another, living out our College values of Love, Compassion, Service and Excellence making this year one to remember.

As 2024 draws to a close, we would like to express our sincere thanks to our teachers, support staff, administration team, students and you, our families, for your commitment to making our school a place of learning, growth and support. Our collective effort is what makes Lakeside College a truly special place.

Whilst the holiday season is a time to reflect on the things that matter most: family, friends, and the joy of giving, whether you're celebrating with loved ones near or far, or unable to spend time with loved ones, we hope this festive time brings you peace, joy and a well-deserved break.  May we all take time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas as it says in Luke 1:30-33 in the angel's message to Mary. "And the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.'"

On behalf of ourselves and the teaching staff at Lakeside College we wish you a joyful holiday season and a Happy New Year filled with peace, love hope, happiness!

Yours sincerely,

Year 9 Market Day!

Our Year 9 students undertaking the elective ‘Be Your Own Boss’ took part in a Market Day at lunch time on Monday 25th of November. Students were able to finally open shop for the business that they have been working to create and build since the beginning of Semester 2. Students were given a loan of $20 each, in order to create their business and sell their products. The only catch was, that students were not able to exceed their budget and must return the loan back.

Working in teams, students were required to create a business idea that they would like to sell at our Market Day. From researching, to planning and to creating, our students came up with amazing businesses and were ready to go! - Nacho Nation - Ice5ive - Lily pad Sweets - Flamin’ Skewers It was a great learning experience that our students took part in, where they were able to see their business idea come to life. It was incredible to witness stalls booming and selling out by the end of lunch.

Our students’ dedication and hard work paid off, with raising $418.35 to their chosen charity ‘Oz Harvest’.

Gumbuya World Excursion

On Monday 2nd of December our Year 7-9 students and Secondary staff ventured off to Gumbuya World for our end of year celebration.

Students spent the day enjoying the sunshine, spending quality time with their peers and teachers, enjoying the rides, animals and all the entertainment of water park.

We would like to thank all the teaching and administration staff for their support and efforts in making the day a success. It was a wonderful day, and a lovely experience getting to see our students enjoying their friendships and having fun!

We look forward to doing it all again in 2025!
