Important Update on E-Bikes

Hon. Minister Laura Gerber MP – Member for Currumbin, recently held a community forum addressing issues surrounding e-bikes. One key outcome is the need for students, parents, and the community to be fully informed about the legal requirements for e-bikes.

To be legal, e-bikes must meet specific criteria, such as motor power limits and speed restrictions. Many students are using modified e-bikes that exceed these limits, making them illegal and subject to penalties. Parents are encouraged to educate themselves and their children on the legal and safety requirements of e-bike use, including helmet laws, speed restrictions, and lawful riding areas.
