Junior Secondary School

STAFFING
Mr Nick Hiron will continue as Deputy Principal for Year 9 in Term 2.
ASSESSMENT CALENDARS
Assessment Calendars will be released in week one for Term 2. Moving forward these will be released each semester so that families can further support their child with their attendance and organisation in assessment weeks.
Access the latest Junior Secondary Assessment Calendars on our website to help plan study schedules and stay organised throughout the term.
REPORTS
In response to feedback from teachers and parents about how the later weeks of the term are utilised we have made some significant changes to assessment timelines. Assessment for these year levels now extends into week 10 and as such teachers will complete moderation, marking and feedback in week one with reporting to follow.
Reporting timelines for Year 7, 8 and 9 have moved to align with Year 10. Reports will be issued to parents in Week 3. This will also apply to Term 2 and 3 work. In Term 4 reports will be issued in Week 10 before school ends.
YEAR 9 SCHOOL BASED YOUTH HEALTH NURSE
Year 9 students will be involved in sessions with the School-Based Youth Health Nurse, focusing on promoting safe and healthy relationships. The sessions covered the importance of regular health checks, understanding protective measures, and making respectful and informed decisions. Students were also introduced to local youth-friendly services that provide reliable information and support.
PBC’s School-Based Youth Health Nurse, Georgia, is available to support students with a range of health concerns, including sexual health, mental health, relationships, drugs and alcohol, personal or family issues, and growth and development. She is onsite every Monday, Tuesday, and even weeks on Thursday. To make an appointment, students can speak to the Student Support Services, Wellbeing Team, or email Georgia directly at georgia.kean@health.qld.gov.au.
YEAR 7 CAMP
Will take place from the 7th to the 9th May 2025 in Noosa. Payment of holding deposit is now in process with further relevant communication forthcoming.
If your young person is not attending camp, school attendance is expected as normal classes will still be timetabled with a focus on consolidation of work and revision to not disadvantage students attending camp.
