Co-Curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

This weekend we will start the winter sport season with Round 1 of the IPSHA competition. Each week I will send out an updated, weekly version of the draw. This will have the most up to date information and should be the point of reference for the coming weekend. On the bottom of the draw, you will find the addresses of all the venues. Draw information will also be on TASS and emailed to each student. Best of luck to all boys playing this weekend.

As the season gets underway, a reminder that there may still be opportunities for boys to move between teams as we continue to review and adjust team placements. The aim is to have teams settled by the end of Round 3, allowing for teams to build cohesion and group dynamics for the remainder of the rounds. This may lead to some boys feeling a little disappointed and others excited by the move. Regardless of the time, if boys are clearly demonstrating strong abilities and are recognised for development, then changes will be made after Round 3.

There is always something happening in the Junior School co-curricular space and many of the boys have been working hard in their cultural pursuits. Below is the first podcast for the year from our Junior School Justice Group (JSJ).

Junior School Justice - Podcast

The Junior School Justice (JSJ) have been busy working on many initiatives throughout Term 1. Reflecting on this, JSJ have created their first podcast for the year. This episode is about recycling, Lenten Fundraising and Harmony Week.

The Junior School House Athletics Carnival will be held on Thursday 18 June, Week 9. In preparation for this event, boys will be able to trial for the following events:

  • High Jump

  • Shot put

  • Discus.

Boys will sign up via the registration forms that will be available outside my office next week. Boys signing up for these events should have a basic idea of technique and rules. There will be more information regarding the Athletics Carnival closer to the date.

Our debaters also start their season this Friday, debating against Trinity Grammar Junior School at home.  Chess will also kick off on Friday afternoon with both home and away competitions.

Good luck to all our teams playing this Friday and over the weekend. Put your best foot forward and perform at your best. Trust in the boys standing/sitting next to you and most importantly, have some fun.
