Dear Parents and Carers,
Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of joining our Grade 5/6 students on camp to Lady Northcote. It was a fantastic camp and a wonderful opportunity for our students to bring our PBL values of Resilience, Respect, and Safety to life. A major highlight for me was watching our students learn more about how they can be resilient learners by stepping out of their comfort zones. Whether they were facing their fears on the giant swing, working together to construct rafts, or trying their hand at cooking traditional damper over the bonfire, seeing them try new and different things was incredibly rewarding.

School camps simply cannot happen without the incredible generosity of our school staff, who give up their own time away from their families and friends to ensure our students have a safe and successful experience. I would like to extend a massive thank you to every staff member who attended - Izabell, Bernie, Adam, Sophie, Heath, Dilisha, Dina, Safaa and Darren. A special thank you to Patrick for his organisation and coordination of the camp with the Lady Northcote staff.

I also want to thank Sophie for hosting an incredibly fun and engaging trivia night on evening two that had everyone laughing and participating, our students learnt a lot about the camp staff!
Finally, a very special thanks goes to Heath for his exceptional dedication across two very different roles. Heath showed meticulous attention to detail as our compliance and communication officer, ensuring that all camp activities were safe and that all MACS first aid processes were strictly followed - no easy feat! On the first night, Heath transformed into his alter ego, 'DJ Laytunes', to DJ what was quite possibly the best camp PJ disco I have ever been to! Well done to all of our students and staff for making the Grade 5/6 camp such a memorable and successful adventure.

I am currently right in the middle of our Prep 2027 interviews, and I must say, it is an absolute delight meeting the soon to be new members of the MTPS community! There is something incredibly special about sitting down with 4 and 5 year olds, hearing about their favourite things, what they like to do and seeing their excitement (or just a little bit of nerves). It is one of the best parts of my job.
We have already received over 70 applications for Prep next year! Because of this incredible interest, I am thrilled to share that we will once again be able to run three Prep classes for the 2027 school year. It is a testament to the dedication of our staff and the vibrant, supportive environment our current families help create every single day. With positions filling up so rapidly, timing is now critical.
Please Note: Letters of offer will be sent out very soon to our current families and Catholic families within our zone.
If you know of any neighbours, friends, or relatives who are looking for a Foundation position for their child next year, please urge them to enrol as soon as possible.
A reminder to families that next Friday 5th June is a school closure day for students and staff. Monday 8th June is also a public holiday for the King's Birthday, so there will be no school on this day either. We hope this extra-long weekend gives our students and staff a wonderful opportunity to slow down, rest and enjoy spending time doing the things they love.
Regards,
Jess
