Creator God, we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, as we walk together on your path of love, hope and faith.

Thank you for the gifts of our school,

our environment, our families and friends.

May our school be a place of learning, care, welcome and celebration.

Mary our Mother, pray for us.

St Mary of the Cross, pray for us.

Amen

Preparing Our Hearts for Christmas

As we approach the joyful season of Christmas, the Church invites us not only to prepare our homes, classrooms, and calendars, but also our hearts. Advent is a sacred time of waiting—of quiet expectation—where we slow down and make room for God’s presence in our lives.

In the midst of busy schedules, end-of-year deadlines, and festive preparations, the story of Christmas gently calls us back to what truly matters: a God who chose to come to us in humility, as a child, born into simplicity and love. The manger reminds us that God meets us where we are, inviting us to respond with faith, kindness, and compassion.

This season offers us an opportunity to reflect on how we live out our Catholic identity each day. We are called to be bearers of Christ’s light—through acts of service, forgiveness, gratitude, and care for one another. Even the smallest gestures of love can reflect the hope and joy of the Gospel.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, may we take time to pray, to be present to one another, and to recognise Christ in those around us, especially the vulnerable and the overlooked. May our hearts be open to the peace that only Christ can bring.

We wish all members of our community a blessed and joyful Christmas. May the light of Christ shine in your homes and guide you into the new year with hope.

“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” (John 1:14)

Gospel Reading (Luke 2:10–11)

The angel said to them,

“Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people:

to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour,

who is the Messiah, the Lord.”

The Word of the Lord.
