 5/6 CLASSROOM

End of Year Reflection

As we come to the end of the year, it’s been wonderful to look back on the growth of our combined Grade 5/6 class. This year has been full of learning, challenges, laughter, and many proud moments along the way.

Our students have shown a real willingness to have a go, even when learning felt tricky. They have supported one another, worked well as a team, and continued to grow in confidence and independence. It has been lovely to see friendships strengthen and students step up, whether in the classroom, on the playground, or during school events.

We are very proud of the effort and resilience our Grade 5/6 students have shown throughout the year. They have embraced new challenges, taken responsibility for their learning, and shown care and respect for those around them.

It has been a pleasure teaching such a thoughtful and capable group of students. We wish them all the best as they head into the year ahead and look forward to seeing where their learning journey takes them next.

Grade 6 Big Day Out

Yesterday, our Grade 6 students headed out for their annual Big Day Out, and it was a fantastic day from start to finish. We began the morning at the Rushworth Bowling Club, where there was plenty of laughter, friendly competition and lots of encouragement between students.

From there, we made our way to the bakery for lunch. It was a nice chance to slow down, sit together and enjoy some well-earned food and conversation. The Op Shop Challenge was a real highlight, with students putting thought into their choices, sticking to a budget and having a lot of fun along the way.

We finished the day with a stop at the ice cream shop, which was the perfect way to wrap up the outing. Throughout the day, the students were a credit to our school, showing respect, responsibility and great behaviour while out in the community.

It was a really special day and a lovely way to celebrate the end of their primary school journey.

Swimming Carnival

Last Friday, students from St Mary’s took part in our Swimming Carnival at the Stanhope Pool, and it was a great day for everyone involved. From the first race to the final relay, the atmosphere was positive and full of encouragement.

It was wonderful to see such strong participation from all students. Whether they were competing in races, giving something new a try, or cheering from the sidelines, everyone got involved and supported one another throughout the day. The effort and sportsmanship shown in and around the pool were a real highlight.

Congratulations to Taya, who was named Age Champion after a strong and consistent performance across her events.

Thank you to the parents, friends and families who came along to support the students. Your cheering and encouragement added to the fun of the day and helped create a great atmosphere.

Congratulations to MacKillop for taking out the overall win for the day.

Overall, it was an enjoyable day that showcased teamwork, resilience and school spirit. The students represented St Mary’s very well, and we thank everyone who helped make the carnival such a success.
