A Mini Vinnies prayer:

Lord,

Open our eyes that we may see the deepest needs of your people.

Move our hands that we may feed the hungry.

Touch our hearts that they may bring warmth to those who are sad.

Let us share our time and possessions with those in need.

Give us the care that strengthens the sick.

May we all be a source of support and encouragement for each other as we strive to build a more loving world.

Amen.

Beginning of Year Mass and Commissioning of St Roch's 'Mini Vinnies'

It was wonderful to join together last week as a school community to celebrate the beginning of our School Year as a community.  We were excited to commission our Year 5 & 6 students as ‘Mini Vinnies’ this year and we look forward to their social justice initiatives over the year. Thank you to our Year 6 leaders for supporting this Mass and also Rev Father Michael Gallacher for leading us.

St Roch's Mini Vinnies Pledge:

  • As a member of Mini Vinnies, I promise to make a difference in my world by:
  • Caring for, respecting and loving myself.
  • Strengthening my friendship with Jesus by praying each day and talking to others about him.
  • Caring for others in my school and social community by befriending those who are alone, needy or in trouble.
  • Contributing to the happiness of my family by my willing help, respect, consideration, joy and kindness.
  • Caring for, appreciating, enjoying and maturing God’s creation, the environment.
  • Treating others the way I would like them to treat me.

Prep visit to St Roch's Church with Father Gallacher

As part of our Catholic Identity and Student Engagement, our Prep students joined Father Gallacher and Anthony for a visit to St Roch's Church. We learnt about all of the different parts of the building, the statues, the altar, the stained glass windows and also about our own patron saint, St Roch.

It was great to see so many questions from our Prep students about the church and also the sharing of knowledge about Jesus and his family.

Thank you to Father Gallacher, Anthony and Alex Granland for supporting this religious learning experience.

We look forward to our Prep and Year 6 buddies and families joining together at the Family Mass later this term!
